So much learning to do!

Learning about groundhogs had to be the main focus since it's already this weekend! Unfortunately, we had two snow days so I really was pushing today. We read two books on the little rodents and made a large anchor chart to display all of our information that we had learned. Kids then had to label their own diagram using the word bank, puzzle pieces, and chart to guide them. There was an engaging word search with all of the groundhog facts on the reverse side. You can access all of this in my 'Operation Groundhog' pack in my TpT shop.

We also practiced our organizational writing skills by elaborating the steps they take in the morning getting ready for school. They had to illustrate a picture and write a sentence below. In mathematics, we reviewed attribute blocks and created designs with them. The last morning station was phonemic awareness in which they had to sound out the words and fill the letters into the puzzle pieces before blending it all together. It was a busy but fun day!

It's here...Unit 7 Week 2 of Wonder Extension Activities!

I think you are going to really like Unit 7 Week 2 as the extension activities are full of fun for the kiddos as it relates to pets! Take a look at it in my TpT shop. My bed is calling my name...zzzzz. Good night!

We squeezed a day in before the winter blast!

We were able to squeeze a day in before this arctic air arrives tonight. Our morning stations consisted of making CVC word matches (from Having Fun in Kindergarten), my fix it up/pronoun exercises, and beginning sounds letter review (from my TpT Unit 5 Week 2). We have also been having fun on our iPads playing 'Bubbles and Numbers!'.
Also in this Unit is our guided reading fun. We always read, disect the book by characters, setting, plot, and more on Day 1. Today was Day 2 in which we answer our comprehension questions I have made to go along with the text. It really gives me a good reading to what areas they understood and which ones I need to expand on.
I love snowmen... even though I dread the snow. Lol! We read "Snowmen at Night" and made our own snowman using our little fine motor skills. I really try to strengthen them quite often because I feel that so many kiddos come into K needing help in this area. I asked the kids to tear little pieces of white paper to form the head and then they were able to design the rest. They then wrote about something fun they would do at night if they were a snowman. They did a pretty good job :-)

Refining those writing skills!

We were able to get some writing in on these frigid days. I asked the kids to journal about their snow days. I really want them to be labeling their pictures to help them construct their sentences better. We have been learning about nouns, adjectives and pronouns too! Lots of literacy going on :-)
